| Look what is waiting for you - only two hours from Cape Town. Off you go! Five cows and a horse beyond Bonnievale you'll find Jan and Maretha van der Merwe's farm. "Merwespont", home of "Peet se Plek" and "Ou Waenhuis". These two cottages are more than 200 metres apart and are separated by vineyards and trees. Each cottage has a separate, private picnic spot on the river bank, with a canoe included in the tariff. | |||
| PEET
SE PLEK (Peet's Place) is tucked away in
its own private corner between vineyards and the river. Park on the lawn
beneath the old oak and step inside. Oh! What a view! Open the French doors
and step out onto the patio. The majestic Breede River lures you down the
bundu steps to your private stretch of river. The cosy open plan living room, with its generous indoor fire-place/braai, is the heart of this riverside haven. All three bedrooms overlook the river. Two is furnished with double beds, and one with two single beds. The couch in the living room converts into an eighth bed. Linen are provided, please bring own towels. The open plan kitchen has an electric stove, microwave, fridge, kettle, cutlery and crockery. You'll find the braai facilities and equipment on the patio in the shade of the karee tree. take a peep inside |

| The
OU WAENHUIS, originally used as car-shed and stable, was beautifully
restored and converted into a rustic, well equipped cottage. It nestles
amongst vineyards, in the shade of lush, century old kei-apple tree, 100
metres from the Breede River. Selecting your bedroom can be difficult, as
all three bedrooms have gorgeous views across the valley or mountain, framed
to perfection in the Lanzerac-style doors. While the bedrooms sleep six
people (One en-suite with double bed, two with two single beds each), there
is a loft for the more adventurous, sleeping two or more kids. There is
a "Victorian" bathroom and the main bedroom has an en suite bathroom.
Linen are provided, please bring own towels.
The kitchen is as well equipped as that of
"Peet se Plek". The spacious open plan living room with its fire-place invites you to spend cosy evenings aglow with relaxed conversation. And of course you'll find the braai facilities and equipment in the shade of the kei-apple tree. take a peep inside |
